Miller, 3 stars General of Northern Whites, couldn’t form an Army.

After several tests and modifications I will not detail here, because they were wrong, I’ve found the solution.

Let me explain: each faction has a file, detailing some characteristics, mostly graphic ones; Among these gfx definitions, there’s a line determining the name and the badge of the Army.

Northern Whites are WH5 faction. However, this faction is a subfaction, ie essentially a fake displaying part of a real faction with proper flag.

Some times ago, I transferred WH5from Southern Whites ( WHI) to Siberians ( WH3).

A this time, i Looked at Wh5 file and saw the badge and name included in.

However, these elemnts must be included in the real faction file too…ie in this case WH3. They weren’t, and so by lack of these elements, the AGE engine denied Miller to form an Army.

Elements of these faction files are created automatically when you generate scenario. The data must be entered manually. I suppose there are programming reasons to include in real faction names and badges of subfaction armies.

But that’s insane complexity creating bug. And a nasty one, when you have to search bug cause among thousands of lines and possibilities.

RUS is certainly almost the most detailed game possible with the AGE engine. Some don’t believe me, maybe, but adding details to an engine over years is like empiling stones on a boat. One day, it will sink, just because it can’t sustain the charge.

The AGE 2.0 engine can sustain much details, but with a growing difficulty to squash bugs and maintain coherence. PON (AGE 3.0)  has sunk.
